Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of Africa's most unique nature experiences and a highlight for travelers to Uganda. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in the rolling highlands of southwestern Uganda and is one of the continent's oldest rainforests, with ecosystems that have survived for over 25,000 years. The park is internationally renowned for its gorilla trekking, as nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas live here in the dense, lush jungle. Trekking takes place on narrow trails through vines, fern forests, and mist-covered hills, where encounters with the gorillas are both intense and deeply moving. Bwindi is also one of Africa's most important bird-watching areas, with over 350 recorded bird species, including many rare and endemic species from the Albertine Rift.
