Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Uganda's Green Wonder

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in southwestern Uganda is one of Africa's most spectacular and biodiverse natural areas and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The dense mountain rainforest spans a dramatic landscape of steep slopes, deep ravines, and mist-shrouded heights, which has remained ecologically stable for thousands of years. Bwindi is especially renowned for its gorilla trekking, considered one of the world's most intense nature experiences. Almost half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas live here, and trekking through the dense vegetation culminates in a rare and moving face-to-face encounter with these endangered primates in their natural habitat. The forest is also a biological hotspot with more than 1,000 plant species, over 120 mammals, and more than 350 bird species, including many Albertine Rift endemics, making it one of Africa's top spots for serious birdwatching.
