Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara, often called Jeri, is nestled between wind-shaped sand dunes and the Atlantic coastline in the state of Ceará and is part of the Jericoacoara National Park. The village can only be reached by 4x4 through the dunes, enhancing the feeling of arriving at an almost untouched paradise. Jeri is particularly famous for its natural rain-fed lagoons such as Lagoa do Paraíso and Lagoa Azul, where crystal-clear shallow waters and white sandy bottoms create perfect conditions for relaxation in hammocks stretched over the water. The area's constant trade winds have made Jericoacoara an international hotspot for kitesurfing and windsurfing, especially between July and January, when the conditions are among the best in the world. Natural phenomena like the iconic rock arch Pedra Furada and the dramatic dunes that shift shapes with the wind make this destination unique. As the sun sets, locals and visitors gather at the top of the Duna do Pôr do Sol dune to watch the sun disappear directly into the sea – a rare sight in Brazil. Car-free sandy streets, rustic pousadas, and a laid-back lifestyle give Jericoacoara an authentic atmosphere where nature, adventure, and tranquility go hand in hand.
