Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan Province is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is regarded as one of the most spectacular natural areas in China – and Asia. The national park is particularly famous for its iconic, crystal-clear lakes with mineral-rich sediments, which create intense color shifts from light turquoise to deep sapphire blue depending on sunlight, depth, and season. Lakes like Five Flower Lake and Long Lake appear almost surreal in their clarity and colors. The area is crisscrossed by well-maintained wooden trails and boardwalks, allowing visitors to explore the valley's forests, rivers, and cascading waterfalls without disturbing the fragile ecosystem. Waterfalls like Nuorilang impress with their broad cascades, especially during the snowmelt season. Jiuzhaigou is internationally renowned as one of the best locations in Asia for nature photography, particularly in autumn, when the deciduous forests take on dramatic red, orange, and golden hues reflected perfectly in the still lakes. The valley is also home to traditional Tibetan villages, where visitors can experience local architecture, colorful prayer houses, and a unique cultural landscape that harmonizes with the grandiose natural surroundings.
