Lake Bled – Adventure by the Lake

Lake Bled is an iconic destination in Slovenia and one of the most photographed spots in the Alps. The glacier-shaped lake is renowned for its crystal-clear, emerald-green waters and the small island in the middle, Bled Island, which is Slovenia's only natural island. A highlight is visiting the island's Church of Mary, where tradition says you should ring the wishing bell to make your wish come true. The journey there takes place in the distinctive hand-rowed pletna boats, which have been used for centuries and are unique to the area. Around the lake runs a roughly 6 km long, nearly flat path, ideal for cycling and walking, offering uninterrupted views of the lake, the island, and the surrounding alpine peaks. Above the lake, Bled Castle dramatically towers on a 130-meter-high cliff and houses a museum, medieval architecture, and viewpoints with panoramic views of the entire area.
