Petra is Jordan’s most iconic landmark and an archaeological masterpiece, carved directly into rose-colored sandstone cliffs by the Nabataeans over 2,000 years ago. The visit begins with the legendary Siq – a narrow, dramatic gorge flanked by cliffs soaring up to 80 meters high, where light and shadow constantly shift. The walk culminates in the moment Al-Khazneh, also known as The Treasury, suddenly reveals itself with its monumental facade, which has become a global symbol of Petra.
