Ring Road

Ring Road, also known as Route 1, is Iceland’s iconic main highway, stretching approximately 1,300 kilometers and forming a continuous route around the entire island. The road connects some of the country’s most remarkable natural attractions, making it possible to experience Iceland’s extreme diversity in a single trip. Along the southern coast, you’ll encounter mighty waterfalls like Skógafoss, where water cascades directly from cliffs and is often enveloped in rainbows, as well as the famous glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón, where enormous icebergs drift slowly towards the sea. In northern Iceland, the landscape opens up around Mývatn, known for its active geothermal area with steaming fissures, bubbling mud pools, unique lava formations, and abundant birdlife.
