Ring Road – Vik Stop

Vík í Mýrdal is a natural stop on the Ring Road through South Iceland and one of the most distinctive spots on the entire route. The town lies directly by the Atlantic Ocean and is world-renowned for Reynisfjara beach, where jet-black volcanic sand meets powerful waves, geometric basalt cliffs, and the iconic Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising dramatically from the sea. The landscape around Vík is shaped by volcanoes, glaciers, and millennia of erosion, making the area one of Iceland's most photographed.
