Sighişoara – Dracula's Birthplace

Sighişoara is a rare preserved medieval town in the heart of Transylvania and one of Romania's most atmospheric UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The fortified citadel rises above the Târnava Valley and remains nearly unchanged since the 15th century, with its cobblestone streets, pastel-colored burgher houses, and defensive towers built by the town's guilds. The city is particularly famous as the birthplace of Vlad Țepeș, also known as Vlad Dracula, whose story continues to influence the atmosphere and the small museums within the citadel. The Clock Tower is Sighişoara's landmark and houses both a historical museum and an observation platform with panoramic views over the city's rooftops and wooded hills. The covered Scholar's Staircase leads up to the Church on the Hill and the old cemetery, where silence contrasts with the lively squares of the citadel.
