Zamość – Renaissance City in Eastern Europe

Zamość is an exceptional historic city in eastern Poland, founded in the late 16th century as a planned Renaissance city based on Italian ideals. Known as the "Padua of the North," the city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its extraordinarily well-preserved urban layout. At its heart is Rynek Wielki, a large, symmetrical market square surrounded by colorful townhouses with arcades, clearly reflecting Italian Renaissance architecture and urban aesthetic.
